Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs the use of broadband internet services provided by TrueNet Broadband Private Limited ("TrueNet", "we", "us", or "our"). By using our services, you ("Subscriber", "Customer", "you") agree to comply with this policy.

This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your service without refund, and may be reported to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited when using our broadband service:

2.1 Illegal Content and Activities

  • Accessing, hosting, storing, transmitting, or distributing any content that is illegal under Indian law
  • Distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Accessing or hosting content banned by the Government of India or court orders
  • Engaging in online fraud, scams, or financial crimes
  • Identity theft, impersonation, or phishing
  • Gambling or betting activities prohibited by applicable state laws
  • Drug trafficking or sale of controlled substances online

2.2 Network Abuse

  • Launching or participating in Denial of Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks
  • Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) or messages
  • Email bombing or flooding
  • Port scanning or network probing of systems you do not own or have authorisation to test
  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any computer, network, account, or data (hacking)
  • Exploiting security vulnerabilities in any system
  • Operating open mail relays or open proxy servers
  • IP address spoofing or DNS cache poisoning

2.3 Malware and Security Threats

  • Creating, distributing, or installing viruses, worms, Trojans, ransomware, or any other malicious software
  • Operating botnets or command-and-control servers for malicious purposes
  • Keylogging, screen capturing, or other surveillance activities targeting others without their consent
  • Intentionally compromising the security of any device, network, or system

2.4 Intellectual Property Violations

  • Downloading, uploading, or distributing pirated software, movies, music, books, or other copyrighted content without proper authorisation
  • Hosting websites or services that facilitate copyright infringement
  • Using peer-to-peer networks for the distribution of copyrighted material without authorisation

2.5 Unauthorised Commercial Use

  • Reselling, redistributing, or sharing your internet connection with other premises or third parties for commercial gain without our written consent
  • Operating a commercial internet service provider or data centre using your residential broadband connection
  • Using residential plans for high-volume commercial operations that exceed normal residential usage patterns

Responsible Use

While not prohibited, the following activities may affect network performance for other users and may be subject to our Fair Usage Policy:

  • Continuous high-bandwidth activities such as large file uploads/downloads, video streaming at maximum quality, or online gaming during peak hours
  • Running servers (web, gaming, media) that generate sustained high traffic
  • Cryptocurrency mining at scale

We reserve the right to manage network traffic to ensure fair access for all subscribers. This may include traffic shaping or speed reduction for activities that disproportionately impact network performance.

Content Standards

When using our services to create, host, or distribute content, you must ensure that content:

  • Complies with all applicable Indian laws and regulations
  • Does not defame, harass, threaten, or intimidate any individual or group
  • Does not incite violence, hatred, or discrimination based on religion, caste, gender, ethnicity, or any other protected characteristic
  • Does not violate the privacy or data protection rights of others
  • Does not constitute misinformation or disinformation that could cause public harm

If you become aware of any misuse of our network or services, including illegal content or activities, please report it to us immediately:

We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly. Reports can be made anonymously. We cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in investigating illegal activities conducted through our network.

Enforcement

TrueNet reserves the right to:

  • Monitor network traffic for compliance with this AUP (subject to applicable privacy laws)
  • Investigate suspected violations of this AUP
  • Suspend or terminate service immediately for serious violations without prior notice or refund
  • Issue warnings for minor violations with a reasonable opportunity to remedy
  • Report violations to law enforcement, regulatory authorities, or affected third parties
  • Cooperate with legal proceedings related to violations

We will use reasonable judgment in determining what constitutes a violation and the appropriate response. Our decisions regarding enforcement are final.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. We will notify subscribers of significant changes via email or SMS. Continued use of our services after notification constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
